By using homozygous traits to breed cattle, those specific homozygous traits will always pass on to the next generation of calves. This means that the carefully and selectively developed dominant traits of an Irish Black beef bull will become the same genetic traits given to any resulting calf no matter what breed of beef cow the mother is.
